A Perfect Fit

Reason # 3,758 why Ashton and Emory love having a baby around. More pirates to enlist ;) During one of their pirate adventures yesterday, Ashton decided that baby Hayes should play too. Since the other two pirate hats in the house were already taken (Ashton's cowboy hat and Emory's dollar bin hot pink Easter bonnet), Ashton decided to use a bowl from their play kitchen. After he got baby Hayes to sit still enough to put the bowl on his little noggin, he announced, "it's a perfect fit!! Baby Hayes, say arrgh matey!!"

As you can tell, baby Hayes was very upset. Note to self- must teach him to stick up for himself when he is old enough to be talked into taking the fall for big brother and sister ;) At this point, I really think he would. Is that drool not out of control!? Slobber monster.

Emory was not impressed with the bowl. She decided to kindly offer her hot pink bonnet instead. And, of course, because Ashton announced that the bowl was "a perfect fit", Emory threw her hands up in the air and excitedly screamed, "perfect fit!!!" as soon as the hot pink bonnet hit his head.

They sure do love their baby brother. This is just reason # 3,758. Arrgh.

The Acrobat

SUCH an acrobat these days! Baby Hayes (will this always be his name?) is scooting, kicking, spinning and, oh yes, still drooling away. Got some pics of his lil pearly whites this week. Please pardon my silly voice on the video. Yes, Ashton making ridiculous and annoying noises usually cracks him up. As always, the ultimate big brother. And what is Emory up to tonight? Well, she is nursing a little fall and she drifts to sleeps. Sassafras has been perpetually getting out of bed at night. Oh. My. Tonight as daddy and I were fixing ourselves dinner, after getting all three of our little loves down for the night, we heard a thud and a hard cry. Cue us both dropping everything and frantically running to her room. Talk about an acrobat. She had crawled out of her crib, turned over her trashcan, used it as a step and hoisted her little heiny up onto her changing table. She then got down the box of costume jewelry that resides on the shelf above her changing table and when I found her crying on the floor, she was adorned in necklaces, bracelets, rings and had her sequinned purse on her shoulder. Not to worry, she was mostly just offended that she fell ;) Sassy to the core.

Princess Tea Party

Emory Anne had her first ever princess tea party today.

033

The kids' school had a fundraiser recently and there was an a silent auction item where we could sign up our little princesses for a real live tea party. Princess tea party. Emory has not stopped calling herself a princess since we put on her sweet little princess dress this morning. Holy moly. May have created a mini-princess monster. I am currently listening to her sing-song "I am a princess!!" and "I went to a tea party" over and over while she is suppose to be napping. Oh Lordy. Really not sure there has ever been a sweeter (or sassier) little princess.

Ashton sings to baby Hayes

This pretty much emcompasses everything that we attempt to do. Lots of interuptions and only half of the participants cooperating. My first video upload. Sorry if it is sideways. If you know how to fix this, please let me know!!

btw, please pause the music on the sidebar to hear the video ;)

Easter Bunny 2011

All three kids LOVED the Easter Bunny this year. They ran to him, covered him in hugs and jumped up beside him to have their picture taken with him. Ashton leaned over and said, "Hoppy Easter, Easter Bunny!!" then giggled to himself.

Getting a recent photo with all three smiling and looking at the same time was another story. Here is the best of the bunch!

Houston, we have a...

TOOTH! Actually, make that two teeth. I knew that all of his drooling and hand-eating and motor boating was not in vain. I hope to get a pic of his two new chicklets soon. For now, here is the drool monster in all his edible glory.

Sweet baby Hayes received his first tooth on 4-27-11 with his second quickly following three days later, on 4-30-11.

Best seat in the house???

When Ashton wakes up from his nap each day, I always hear the pitter patter of his little run on my hardwoods, jogging out to greet me in my various spot in the house. Every day he greets me the same: "Hi mommy. I took a goooood nap! Watcha doing, mommy? Wanna play the cool book or read to me??" Every day. Always the same. Happy, still sleepy-eyed and full of edible, sincere excitement to be with me. Please just freeze time, Big Man Above. Please. Today, I was preoccupied. So, I put on his fave, The Backyardigans, and continued on with my preoccupation. Well, since his momma wasn't available to cuddle him, he found quite the cuddly spot. When I found him and giggled, "Ashton, what are you doing, sweet boy?!" he simply said, "Mom, this is the best seat in the house.". Also known as Baby Hayes' carseat. Oh Lord. Ashton. You are my heart and soul and everything in between. Sidenote - There have been a lot of photos on here lately of Ashton wearing a pull up. I am feeling the need to say that he is fully pottytrained and only wears a pull up for naps and bedtime. Just sayin ;).

Arrrgghhh!!! A Pirate's Life For A&E!

How much fun can a $3.50 cheap plastic telescope afford? Umm, a lot. This little "pirate spy glass" as Ashton calls it, is the #1 most sought after toy in the Kerr household. Holy moly, they are precious. Emory wears a hot pink Easter bonnet from the dollar bin section at Target, Ashton wears his cowboy hat and they walk around searching for treasure, saying "arrghh matey!!" and alternating holding the "spy glass" and ladybug magnifying glass. Emory has little to no clue what they are doing, but loves any activity that she gets roped into doing with her big brother and also loves to giggle uncontrollably after saying "argghh".

FYI, found, oh, about $30 in change in their treasure chest (also known as an Easter basket stuffed into the back corner of Ashton's closet) recently. Note to self: check treasure chest next time I need to tip the pizza delivery guy.

Six months of pure joy.

This is what pure joy looks like. Almost impossible to get a picture of a "normal" face. I truly cannot remember life before this little butterball (who has just gone through a massive growth spurt!). Melt. My. HEART. Baby Hayes - you are a real life Angel, living on this Earth.

I hope this Texas sized smile never fades. Ever.
